History

The UAW Retirees Health Care Plan is sponsored by the UAW Retirees Health Care Trust (the Trust) which was established on December 17, 2015 as the result of a court-approved Settlement Agreement in Office and Professional Employees International Union Local 494, et al v. Governance

The Trust is independent from the UAW. It is governed by a Committee that was appointed under the Settlement Agreement. The Committee includes four independent members, one member appointed by the UAW, one member appointed by OPEIU Local 494, and two members appointed by the UAW Staff Council. The current Committee Members are:

  • Scott Andrews
  • Janice Caruso
  • Jessica Gubing
  • James L. King
  • Gary Mann
  • Francine Parker
  • Gary Petroni
  • Renee Turner-Bailey

The Committee acts on behalf of the UAW Retirees and their Dependents who are covered by the Plan. The Committee manages the assets of the Trust and is responsible for administering the Plan’s benefits.

Funding

The Trust was funded through contributions that were made by the UAW as required by the Settlement Agreement. The UAW has met all financial obligations to the Trust. The Committee is solely responsible for the ongoing design and management of the Trust and its benefits.

Administrative Manager

The Committee retained CDS Administrators, Inc. to serve as the Administrative Manager. CDS serves as the Trust’s administrative office, handling general Plan administration, including eligibility, record keeping, participant contributions/reimbursements and inquiries.
